A novel reprocessable chloroprene rubber based on dynamic disulfide metathesis

For sustainable application of chloroprene rubber (CR), a new technology is developed by the vulcanization CR using 2,2’-dithiodipyridine (DPD) as cross-linking agent with reprocessing performance owing to disulfide metathesis. When DPD was incorporated into vulcanization, Menschutkin reaction between allyl chloride group and pyridine occurred maximum exothermic peak at 184°C. The number effective bond 0.5 phr vulcanizate higher than that high content. This showed tensile strength (11.12 MPa) elongation break (1253 ± 120%) exchangeable in system. Under catalysis triphenylphosphine, metathesis compound improved obviously, which endowed CR/DPD vulcanizates good recyclability performance. Disulfide cross-linkage maintains its stability low temperature, thus ensuring mechanical under ambient conditions. Vulcanization can be conducted common industrial processing equipment. Such reprocessable could have potential industry, also serve significantly improve environmental sustainability.
